I really do miss that time and though I wasn't trying to I worked everyone in my family into the song. Some obvious, some not. This one will sound much different on the CD. This is just me playing and singing with Steve Phillips adding an acoustic riff here and there.
I MISS THE BEATLES ©Sherry Lawson
Verse1
I miss the Beatles, I miss the parties
I would sit around a circle with my friends playing guitar
We put our thumbs out, and saw the nation
I miss feeling so invincible but most of all, I miss the Beatles
Verse 2
I miss the freedom, I miss the fashion
Though we try to imitate it feels contrived and makes me sad
I miss the protests, I miss the action
As we marched to find a higher place to stand but most of all, I miss the Beatles
Chorus 1
I can’t go back to stay, and I can’t recreate those days
Just when I shake this melancholic haze, I hear a song,
I see a picture, a documentary reminding me and then, I miss the Beatles
Verse 3
I miss my mother, I miss my brother
Smoking late around the table as my father watched TV
I asked the questions, we guessed the answers
There were no boundaries restricting me, no rhetoric, I miss it all
Chorus 2
I can’t go back to stay, and I can’t recreate those days
Just when I shake this melancholic haze
I hear his voice; I smell her perfume, just like Elvis missing Memphis
I miss everything and I miss the Beatles
Bridge
Trying to make a change, not history,
peace meant more than just a sign
Now we watch from our complacency, architects without design
Chorus 3
I can’t go back to stay and I can’t recreate those days
Just when I shake this melancholic haze
I miss the Beatles, yeah yeah yeah
I miss the Beatles, yeah yeah yeah
I miss the Beatles, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
