SONGWRITER'S CIRCLE NIGHT NOW TUESDAY - May 11, 2007
Calling all Local Songwriters and fans of original live music:
Tullahoma Songwriter’s Circle meets and performs
Every Tuesday evening, 6pm to 8pm for the crowd at Sweet Aroma Café in the Coker's Building on Wilson in Tullahoma TN
We're using an in-the-round format where each player in the circle plays a song and then the next player etc. We make sure everyone has a chance to play and at some point may have to limit each player to 3 songs per night so everyone can play. However, this is everyone's circle and we're flexible and open to suggestions from members.
A $1 donation will be appreciated at the door from all who attend; this is to defray the costs of printing, paper, notification and administration in support of The Tullahoma Songwriter’s Circle. Circle nights are open to songwriters and their fans.
No talking will be permitted during performances. Please respect your fellow performers! That also means – no cell phones allowed! Turn ‘em off!! FYI - the Coker’s Building is a non-smoking establishment.
Bring your own instruments. We will provide the PA, mics and cords and a sturdy music stand (a keyboard can be provided if you call ahead).
If you do not play an instrument and are a lyricist and would like to read your lyrics, we are open to that! Tullahoma Songwriter’s Circle is a networking organization and you will meet some songwriters who would be interested in partnering with you to turn your lyrics into songs! Have a nice song but no lyrics? Same works for you. That said, this is a "performance" circle so you need to be able to read, sing or play your songs. Recordings don't work in this format. If that's all you have, come in and listen and maybe you'll meet a songwriter interested in playing your tunes. That's what it's all about (yeah, just like the Hokey Pokey).
Applause is definitely allowed!
Please take care of Sweet Aroma - they are hosting us! They have great food so come hungry!
On the Horizon…
We may need to start charging a minimal yearly dues fee in the future. Some ideas for member’s privileges:
Activities like “Guest” songwriters for Circle workshops.
Access to our members info/websites available to The Circle
Opportunities to perform in Showcases at The Circle – Showcases would be 3 to 4 slots on a specifically chosen “Showcase Night” (approximately 45 minutes) to be able to showcase your stuff – with guests if you’d like - basically, the stage would be yours! Something to work toward.
The ability to promote your personal websites via links on the TSC website pages. Also to promote CDs or current projects via those links.
Looking to the future, after 1 year’s time, we plan to do a “Best of the Circle” CD and choose some of our best and brightest members to do cuts on a compilation CD recording to commemorate our 1st year of being together!
More great ideas to come from YOU, Circle members. We’ll start having short member meetings before the Circle to share these when we get a little more organized.
When a songwriter comes to the circle for the first time we ask them to fill out a short information card which gives them the option to have their contact info listed on this website. These are songwriters who are interested in connecting with other songwriters or performance events. Here are the names so far:
